MKCP Canoe Polo Beginner Guide
New players (aged 10 and up) are best suited to join social Fridays at Makino in Feilding or Sundays at Freyberg in Palmerston North. Here gear is available for you to use, just bring your togs, rash tops and short are the typical go to kit on water.
Carol Storrier runs Fridays and Cheryl Palmer runs Sundays. Touch base with them when you arrive and you'll be looked after
Junior Development / E Grade Procession
This is for new and developing players up to year 10. This program runs in term 1 and term 4, Thursday evenings at Freyberg pool. Players will be grouped according to ability and will be coached on water lifting player confidence and game understanding.
All gear is available for use.

New E Grade Development
For the 2027 playing season, MKCP is developing an E grade. This is for players not quite at the ability, age or confidence to be selected for a Club team. Players can either enter into E grade by direct registration, or will moved here after non team selection. Those entered in Junior Development on Thursdays of Term 4 will have the opportunity to transition into E Grade at the lagoon in mid November.
Players within E grade will have their own round of competitions created starting with Dec Bash. Dates and formats for a minimum of two other rounds tbd.
Players deemed of suitable ability and confidence will have the ability to play within D grade in social competitions.
